Fun Ideas For A Vintage Spring Mattress

Here are a few fun ideas I found for repurposing the Vintage Spring Mattress I have Available...

This 1st photo is the spring mattress I have available...

I love this idea for a seating chart for a country or vintage inspired wedding.

Perfect for an outdoor bed! Just needs a few comfy throws and LOTS of pillows!

This might be my favorite!

A great way to separate your work space from your living space.. I think it would look even better with a few lights wrapped throughout it, with photos and notes hung all over it...

Why put it under your bed when you can put it over...

Hang it from the ceiling...

Creating A One Of A Kind Chandelier Out Of Decanters

I have been collecting Vintage Decanters for several years now.  I was never really sure what to do with them (besides fill them :)) until I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest! A pub in England had photographed this amazing chandelier made out of vintage decanters.  Zach and I searched and searched the interenet trying to find a blog about how to do it ourself, but NO luck, so we had to get creative and here's the final result! Aslo below are directions to DIY!

We went to the local hardware store and purchased heavy duty wall anchors, lamp wire, threaded lamp tubing, keyless light sockets, lamp washer & nuts, wire nuts and wood screws.
The only lamp tubing we could find came in brass or silver, so we ended up spray painting it black to match our dining room.
We cut 2x4's and mounted them to the ceiling, using the wall anchors, to make a frame for the vintage wood box we decided to use as the base fo the chandelier.
Zach hard at work while Max our pup pays very close attention.  He loves project days!
We installed the threaded lamp tubing through drilled holes in the box and secured them with lamp washers and nuts at various lenghts. Then ran lamp wiring through the tubing and wired all the lights together inside the box.  After the wiring was complete, we attatched the box to the frame using wood screws.
We picked out various shapes and sizes of decanters to use.  After MANY different methods of cutting glass, we found the best method was to use a wet tile saw.  Make sure when experimenting with cutting decanters, you have many extras sitting around!
Next step was to slide the decanters over the tubing.  This is definitely a two person job... then came the wiring of the keyless light sockets while holding the decanters up. Once the sockets were secure, we slid the decanters down and added light bulbs! Here's the finished product!
Zach added a dimmer switch, which I highly recommend! We just love the way it turned out!
